BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to take part in a mass college capturing that might have included a bombing at Berkeley High College, police say.
The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department mentioned in a press launch. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no school that day.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing destructive machine supplies and threatening to commit a criminal offense which is able to lead to dying or nice bodily harm.
Police said they obtained a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a shooting that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence.
Police didn't say if the teenager was a pupil at Berkeley Excessive Faculty.
Upon executing the search warrant, police stated they discovered elements to explosives and assault rifles, a number of knives, and electronic gadgets that could be used to create further weapons.
At that time, a warrant was obtained for the teenager's arrest.

"College security remains a high precedence for the division," police stated in a press release.
Particulars on whom the teenager was trying to recruit weren't disclosed. Police mentioned this case remains beneath investigation.
Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens told the school's community that the district was in shut contact with police throughout this investigation.
After police confiscated the teen's weapon elements, the district relied on police experience to assess any potential ongoing threat to its colleges. The district communicated with police on the student's whereabouts.
"As added precautions during this era, we alerted our administrative and safety employees about this investigation and, as is our standard observe, maintained shut contact with our BPD College Useful resource Officer on the Berkeley High College campus," Stephens wrote. "Throughout the investigation period, we have been assured that this individual didn't pose an immediate menace to the Berkeley Excessive Faculty neighborhood."
The district is conducting their own investigation on this matter.
The district may pursue disciplinary motion towards the coed.
In addition, a city hall assembly titled: 'The right way to Discuss to Kids About College Violence' supplied by Alameda County Workplace of Schooling is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
