800 employees resign after firm asks them to work from workplace

Over 800 WhiteHat Jr staff have resigned from the children on-line coding learning edtech start-up in the final two months after being asked to work from office.

This comes after WhiteHat Jr, a platform which was acquired by BYJU’S in 2020, requested its staff to return to workplace within a month’s time, in line with an Inc42 report.

On March 18, the company announced the policy to finish earn a living from home and asked remote workers to return to workplace by April 18.

The resignations came from full-time staff of the sales, coding, and math teams. Extra staff are anticipated to place down their papers within the coming months.

One of the staff who resigned told the website that a month’s time was not sufficient for relocation. “Some have youngsters, some have aged and sick mother and father, whereas others have other responsibilities. It isn't proper to name back staff in such a brief period of time,” the previous WhiteHat Jr employee stated.

Another worker mentioned salaries also factored in the choice to not return to the workplace. At the time of hiring, staff have been advised about their job location – WhiteHat Jr has workplaces in Gurugram, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
