ERCOT Asks Texans to Preserve Power By the Weekend – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

ERCOT, Texas' energy grid operator, is placing out a call for all Texans to preserve energy over the next few days as we head into a weekend with doubtlessly document warmth.

In a press release, the Electrical Reliability Council of Texas said, "unseasonably scorching weather" was driving file demand throughout Texas" and that they need everyone to preserve power between 3 p.m. and eight p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday after six amenities unexpectedly tripped offline Friday afternoon.

ERCOT said six power plants dropped off the grid Friday, leading to a loss of about 2,900 MW of era -- that's sufficient electrical energy to energy roughly 580,000 properties.
