A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to carry out a mass capturing, authorities stated.
In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace stated it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" sent by a pupil at an elementary faculty.
It stated its native school threat enforcement staff was instantly notified and started investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written risk to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's office stated.
In video shared by authorities, the boy could be seen being led into a police vehicle.
“This scholar’s conduct is sickening, particularly after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement, noting that the threat came simply days after the lethal faculty shooting at Robb Elementary School left 19 students and two teachers lifeless.
“Proper now will not be the time to behave like slightly delinquent. It’s not funny,” he said. “This child made a faux menace, and now he’s experiencing actual penalties.”
