Florida fifth grader arrested, charged with threatening a mass taking pictures, police say

A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to hold out a mass taking pictures, authorities said.

In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening text message" sent by a scholar at an elementary school.

It mentioned its native college threat enforcement workforce was instantly notified and began investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written menace to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy could be seen being led into a police car.

“This scholar’s habits is sickening, especially after the current tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated in an announcement, noting that the menace got here simply days after the lethal faculty capturing at Robb Elementary Faculty left 19 students and two academics useless.

“Right now just isn't the time to behave like a bit of delinquent. It’s not funny,” he said. “This baby made a pretend menace, and now he’s experiencing real penalties.”

Marceno stated his group “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to analyze the incident.

The remark came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the May 24 college capturing after it came to gentle that they waited roughly an hour for backup instead of immediately transferring in on the gunman.
