A fifth grade student in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to hold out a mass taking pictures, authorities mentioned.

In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace said it had realized earlier that day of a "threatening text message" sent by a student at an elementary school.

It mentioned its native school threat enforcement team was immediately notified and began investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting," the sheriff's office mentioned.

In video shared by authorities, the boy can be seen being led into a police automobile.

“This pupil’s habits is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement, noting that the threat came simply days after the lethal school capturing at Robb Elementary School left 19 students and two lecturers useless.

“Right now is just not the time to behave like a bit of delinquent. It’s not funny,” he mentioned. “This baby made a pretend risk, and now he’s experiencing real penalties.”

Marceno said his team “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to research the incident.

The remark came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the Could 24 faculty capturing after it came to mild that they waited roughly an hour for backup instead of instantly transferring in on the gunman.
