A fifth grade student in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to carry out a mass capturing, authorities stated.
In an announcement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" despatched by a scholar at an elementary college.
It mentioned its native college threat enforcement staff was immediately notified and started investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass taking pictures," the sheriff's office stated.
In video shared by authorities, the boy can be seen being led into a police car.
“This student’s habits is sickening, particularly after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno mentioned in a statement, noting that the risk came simply days after the deadly college capturing at Robb Elementary School left 19 college students and two lecturers lifeless.
“Right now is not the time to act like a bit of delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he said. “This child made a fake menace, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”
