Investigators believe Mtula Payton was one of many alleged gang members who opened hearth in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an condominium complicated, the Sacramento Police Division said in an announcement Saturday night time.

“Las Vegas Metro Police Department worked with our detectives for weeks in an effort to find Payton,” the statement stated.

Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, had been charged this month with homicide in the slayings, as well as weapons offenses.

Investigators offered no motive however said in courtroom paperwork that Smiley Martin and his companions recorded an online video hours earlier than the capturing, flashing weapons and speaking trash from a location in rival gang territory. In it, they state their plans to move to the downtown space with the intent of opening fire.

Three men alleged to be gang members and three women who were innocent bystanders died in the shootout that occurred as patrons of bars and nightclubs emptied out onto downtown streets. A dozen more individuals were wounded.

The Martin brothers, who have been among the many wounded, remain jailed. Attorneys for the brothers have but to comment on their charging.

Payton, who police say is a member of a rival gang, was being held in a Nevada jail pending transport again to California.
