BARNSTEAD, N.H. -- A person was arrested Friday after a number of signs saying "college shooter" were present in Barnstead, Epsom, and Pittsfield, New Hampshire, the state's Department of Safety announced. Guy Hanson, 61, of Pittsfield, faces multiple fees.

An elevated quantity of law enforcement officials had been positioned at colleges within the communities on account of the indicators. A number of schools initiated lockdowns as a precaution shortly after.

Hanson allegedly positioned the indicators around the communities, the Division of Security said, but they decided there isn't any credible threat at the moment.

One such sign was written on a paper plate. The protection division launched a photograph of the plate but blurred part of it "to protect the integrity of the investigation."

Hanson was arrested on a felony charge of prison threatening and three misdemeanor fees together with false report back to regulation enforcement, false public alarm and criminal threatening. He is being held in Merrimack County Jail pending a hearing scheduled for Tuesday.

No other suspects have been charged presently.
