Taliban leader orders ladies to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme leader and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s girls to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on women’s lives for the reason that Taliban seized power.

“They should put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it is traditional and respectful,” said a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a function in Kabul.

“These girls who will not be too previous or younger should cowl their face, besides the eyes, as per sharia directives, with a purpose to keep away from provocation when assembly men who are not mahram (grownup close male kinfolk),” the decree stated.

It added that if women had no essential work outdoors it was “higher they stay at home.”

Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed comparable restrictions on ladies.
