Taliban leader orders women to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s women to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of many harshest controls imposed on women’s lives since the Taliban seized energy.

“They need to wear a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's traditional and respectful,” stated a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was released by Taliban authorities at a perform in Kabul.

“Those women who aren't too outdated or younger should cowl their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, to be able to avoid provocation when meeting men who usually are not mahram (adult shut male relations),” the decree said.

It added that if ladies had no vital work outdoors it was “higher they keep at house.”

Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed related restrictions on girls.
