Comic Dave Chappelle was attacked onstage Tuesday evening as he performed at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl arena, with videos from audience members' cellphones rapidly flooding social media and showing a person appear to run onto the stage and sort out the comic.

Chappelle, whose unapologetic humor has made him a lightning rod for criticism, appeared unscathed by the sudden interruption and later joked (Notice: Linked video comprises harsh language together with profanity) with fellow comic and actor Jamie Foxx onstage that he'd taken revenge on his attacker.

Movies posted to Twitter appeared to indicate the one that charged Chappelle being detained outside the venue by police and then loaded into an ambulance with visible accidents.

Witnesses stated — and movies appeared to point out — that the person was set upon by multiple individuals onstage instantly after he attacked Chappelle.
