Florida man gets life in prison for touring to Vietnam to sexually abuse minors – WFTV

TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida man has been sentenced to life in jail for touring to Vietnam to sexually abuse minors he met online, in line with officials.

The U.S. Division of Justice says Christopher Edwin Day, 52, traveled two different times in 2015 and 2016 to Vietnam from Florida to have sexual encounters with minor Vietnamese boys. Court data say he flew back and forth disguising himself as an English trainer.

A number of the boys, according to the DOJ, have been lured with guarantees of cash and items. Others launched him as their English instructor.

The Tampa Bay Information says Homeland Safety investigated the case in Tampa and in Ho Chi Minh City. It was a part of Undertaking Secure Childhood, which was an effort to seek out child intercourse abuse started in 2006 by the DOJ.

Day pleaded guilty to two counts of journey with intent to interact in illicit sexual conduct and two counts of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor into unlawful sexual exercise, in response to the DOJ. Day has been sentenced to life in jail.
