Arlington police stated Duff Elementary School was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a mum or dad with a concealed weapon had his gun unintentionally go off, hitting the dad or mum within the leg.
ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police said Duff Elementary School was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a father or mother with a concealed weapon had his gun by accident go off, hitting the mum or dad within the leg.
The school had early launch and college students had been released on the planned time of 12:10 p.m.
In accordance with police, the mum or dad, identified as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by chance shot himself. His harm was not severe.
The school district said White was inside the constructing, close to the lobby area, and never within the hallway near students when the gun went off.
Police and school officials mentioned there was no menace made and the guardian didn't have "malicious intent."

No students or staff have been injured. The mother or father was taken to an area hospital after being shot in the leg.
Arlington Police Chief Al Jones said after White was launched from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in prohibited places and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.
In the two days for the reason that Uvalde mass college shooting, there have been 5 instances in North Texas related to guns brought to varsities or threats made.

Arlington mother and father stated their minds instantly considered the worst after they had been notified.

"When I received the text message, I used to be like, ‘Oh my God, one thing is going to occur.’ I was shocked," father or mother Karima Rasheed stated.

"I’m terrified, absolutely terrified. I’ve received twin six-year-olds that go to a unique Arlington school and every time I hear there's a lockdown or a school taking pictures, my coronary heart jumps into my throat," he mentioned.
Rasheed stated Thursday was the commencement day for 6th grade college students at Duff Elementary.
Whereas driving her son to school within the morning, she had a chat with him about Uvalde and what to do if one thing ever happened at his college.
"If something occurred, you’ve obtained to run wherever that’s secure and conceal," she instructed her little one.
Whereas some say the incident in Uvalde is just too contemporary to talk politics, Mitchell mentioned one thing needs to be executed now.
"They wish to discuss it, they wish to marketing campaign on it, they wish to fundraiser on it, but they don’t need to really go any legal guidelines and do anything," he added.
