Speaking in the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead until I feel better concerning the course of our country."
In a weblog post, Kapler questioned whether or not the country's leadership is committed to representing its folks's finest pursuits and whether the USA is actually "the land of the free and the house of the brave.""We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her youngsters. They blocked mother and father attempting to prepare to cost in to cease the shooter, together with a father who discovered his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians resolve that the lobbyist and gun industries are more necessary than our kids's freedom to go to highschool while not having bulletproof backpacks and active shooter drills," Kapler wrote.
Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he known as "the shortage of delivery of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."
"I'm not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I realized from my dad, that once you're dissatisfied with your country, you let or not it's known through protest. The home of the brave should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action in opposition to gun violence in the United States.Kerr refused to talk about basketball forward of Sport 4 of the Warriors' series against the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute raising his voice as he railed towards gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's shooting.
"Within the last 10 days, we've had elderly Black individuals killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've kids murdered at school," Kerr instructed reporters in the beginning of the press convention.
"When are we going to do something? I'm tired. I am so tired of getting up right here and offering condolences to the devastated families which might be on the market ... I'm tired of the moments of silence. Enough."
