Ten individuals were injured, 4 critically, and three legislation enforcement officers have been hurt Monday evening after gunfire erupted in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, in keeping with police.
Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg called the Memorial Day rampage a mass taking pictures, saying "we’re counting our blessings that no one on this incident was killed."

“One person swung at a deputy, striking the deputy within the face. The deputy was later treated for facial injuries. One other deputy was knocked to the bottom by a member of the group. The deputy suffered cuts to the head and arm,” Andrew Knapp, a spokesperson for the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, told NBC affiliate WCBD of Charleston.
Reynolds said there have been greater than 100 proof markers on the taking pictures scene, and more than half are shell casings.
“There’s lots of weapons that have been fired. Handguns, long weapons, 223 rounds. If anybody doesn’t know what a 223 spherical will do, it’ll blow your leg right off, it’ll blow your head right off your shoulders. These are the kinds of rounds that have been fired final night,” Reynolds said.
He said there were “a couple different groups capturing at each other usually.”
“As we stand right here right now, we’re lucky we don’t have a dead cop or dead citizen or dead community members," Reynolds said.
The investigation is ongoing and officers are still working the scene.
Two people have been arrested stemming from the assaults on the deputies, police mentioned.
These suspects have been recognized as Ayesha McGee and Tahira McGee, NBC affiliate of WCBD of Charleston reported, citing stories from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Workplace.
Ayesha McGee was charged with third-degree assault and battery and Tahira McGee with second-degree assault and battery and resisting arrest.
Officers said extra arrests are expected.
Officers mentioned South Road from Nassau Road to Drake Road and America Avenue from Reid Road to Mary Avenue within the space will stay closed to process the capturing scene.
The mayor condemned gun violence in the metropolis and throughout the nation, a nod to the Buffalo, New York, supermarket capturing and the Uvalde, Texas, college taking pictures.
