Supreme Court says wrongful loss of life lawsuit against Dallas officers can go forward

DALLAS - The high court will permit a wrongful loss of life lawsuit to proceed towards town of Dallas and 4 police officers.

The household of a man who died in police custody in 2016 sued.

Tony Timpa referred to as police for assist as he had a drug and mental health disaster.

The city fought towards releasing physique camera video and whit it did come out it was obvious why. It showed the officers mocking the dying man.

One had his knee on Timpa’s again and neck for nearly 15 minutes and the medical expert said that contributed to his death.

The city of Dallas argued the officers are legally protected from lawsuits.

The Supreme Court upheld a federal appeals courtroom’s ruling that can permit the case to proceed.

"The choice signifies that the case can proceed to trial and that there will probably be no extra delays from any appellate courtroom. Also, the choice signifies that the Fifth Circuit did it proper that their ruling regarding deadly power will be the regulation of the land not less than in Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana for so long as we know," said Geoff Henley, an legal professional for Timpa’s family.

Those are the states lined by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling permitting the suit to proceed.

Three years in the past, the Dallas district lawyer dropped legal expenses in opposition to three of the officers.
