BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to take part in a mass college capturing that would have included a bombing at Berkeley Excessive School, police say. 

The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department mentioned in a press launch. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no faculty that day. 

The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing damaging device materials and threatening to commit a criminal offense which can result in demise or nice bodily harm.

Police stated they received a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a shooting that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence. 

Police didn't say if the teenager was a student at Berkeley Excessive School.

Upon executing the search warrant, police mentioned they found components to explosives and assault rifles, a number of knives, and electronic gadgets that could possibly be used to create extra weapons. 

At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teenager's arrest.

"Faculty security stays a high precedence for the department," police mentioned in an announcement. 

Particulars on whom the teen was attempting to recruit were not disclosed. Police said this case stays under investigation. 

Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens instructed the school's neighborhood that the district was in close contact with police throughout this investigation. 

After police confiscated the teenager's weapon elements, the district relied on police experience to assess any potential ongoing risk to its colleges. The district communicated with police on the coed's whereabouts. 

"As added precautions throughout this era, we alerted our administrative and security staff about this investigation and, as is our customary observe, maintained shut contact with our BPD Faculty Resource Officer on the Berkeley High Faculty campus," Stephens wrote. "All through the investigation period, we have been assured that this individual didn't pose an immediate threat to the Berkeley Excessive Faculty group."

The district is conducting their own investigation on this matter. 

The district could pursue disciplinary action towards the student. 

As well as, a city hall meeting titled: 'How one can Discuss to Youngsters About Faculty Violence' offered by Alameda County Office of Education is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
