Talking within the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead until I really feel better in regards to the direction of our nation."

I wish that I might have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that whenever you're dissatisfied along with your country, you let it be known by protest. The home of the courageous should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger motion towards gun violence in the United States.Kerr refused to speak about basketball ahead of Sport 4 of the Warriors' sequence towards the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute elevating his voice as he railed against gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's capturing.

"When are we going to do one thing? I am tired. I'm so bored with getting up here and providing condolences to the devastated households which are on the market ... I am bored with the moments of silence. Enough."
